£35,000.00 - 40,000.00 dependant on experience and qualifications plus bonus and 25% shift premium

The Opportunity
We are looking for a proactive and committed Health & Safety Officer to join our team in Plymouth. This is a key role responsible for maintaining and developing our Health & Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with legislation, and driving a culture of continuous improvement and “zero harm” across the business.
Working closely with stakeholders at all levels, you will play a vital part in embedding best practice and supporting safe, compliant operations across all departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously improve the ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company standards
- Identify, develop, and implement H&S improvements across the organisation
- Support and manage risk assessments and safety documentation
- Deliver H&S training and awareness programmes to employees
- Lead audits and inspections, working with safety representatives and stakeholders
- Support incident, accident, near miss, and hazard investigations, ensuring effective follow-up actions
- Coordinate and guide EHS representatives and on-site safety activities
- Liaise with external bodies, contractors, and regulatory authorities
- Promote a strong, positive safety culture and lead by example
Qualifications & Experience

- Experience within a Health & Safety role, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, compliance, and management systems
- Experience with risk assessments, audits, and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- A proactive, organised, and solution-focused approach
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
- IOSH / NEBOSH qualification is desirable
- Experience working with ISO 45001 systems would be advantageous
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence at all organisational levels
- Ability to work to deadlines using own initiative
- Effective teamwork and contribution within a management structure
- Proactive, flexible, and improvement‑focused mindset
- Persuasive, resilient and tenacious in achieving environmental and sustainability targets
- Proficient in MS Office applications
