Transfer Station Supervisor

Milton Keynes

45hrs per week
60 minutes unpaid break
Site opening Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm / Weekends when necessary
Rate £16.02

Quick look at the role.

As a Transfer Station Supervisor, you will oversee the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of a busy recycling and transfer station. Leading a small team, you will ensure the site operates safely, complies with environmental and health and safety legislation, and consistently delivers high operational standards.

Your core responsibilities:

Supervise and support a small team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Oversee the daily operation of the recycling and transfer station, maintaining productivity and site performance.
Promote a strong health and safety culture by carrying out inspections, identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with company procedures.
Manage contractors on site, ensuring all permit requirements, site rules and safe systems of work are followed.
Maintain accurate operational records, report incidents and near misses, and complete all required documentation.
Liaise with customers, drivers and internal stakeholders to ensure the smooth and compliant running of the site.

Requirements

Desirable skills and experience – full training will be provided for the right candidate:

Previous supervisory or team leader experience within waste management, recycling, manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
Good knowledge of health and safety legislation, with the ability to promote safe working practices.
Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and lead a team effectively.
Experience using basic IT systems to maintain records and complete operational reporting.
A proactive, hands-on approach with a commitment to delivering excellent operational and environmental standards.
