Walker Construction currently have openings for a Setting Out Engineer ideally based in Milton Keynes or Northamptonshire areas. As a Setting Out Engineer with our Midlands Team undertaking S278/Highway projects you will be tasked with setting out, levelling, processing As-Built information and surveying sites, managing our quality control procedures as well as accurately setting out detailed works in accordance with contract drawings. It will be your responsibility to ensure that all checks are carried out regularly and to high standards.

What we are looking for in you….
· Demonstrable experience in civil engineering/highways
· Proficiency in using CAD software
· Strong IT and supervisory skills
· Excellent problem-solving abilities
· Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meeting deadlines; reliable and self-motivated
· HNC in Civils with a minimum two years’ experience
· Enka or similar approved qualification in setting out
· CSCS Professional/Manager’s card
More about the Setting Out Engineer role…
· Receive all drawings and relevant information and set out sites accordingly
· Produce as-built drawings and provide all necessary information
· Provide all calculations in respect of quantities, temporary works and statutory authorities
· Plot information from and to survey equipment
· Undertake survey works – pre-commencement and upon completion
· Keep measuring equipment in a suitable condition for accurate measurements
· Identify design errors before implementation on site and liaise with designers to overcome any identified issues.
· Work closely with operational teams.
· Be able to work clearly and accurately under pressure and to tight timescales.
· Be able to think logically and laterally.
· Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.
