Company Overview

The Spread Eagle Hotel is a charming 35-bedroom establishment located in the heart of Thame. Our hotel features a restaurant, bar, and a spacious function room, offering exceptional hospitality experiences in a welcoming environment. We are committed to providing outstanding service and creating memorable stays for our guests.

Financial Controller

A fantastic opportunity for a commercially focused finance professional to join a dynamic hospitality operation, working closely with the General Manager to drive financial performance, maximise profitability and support strategic decision-making.

The successful candidate will take ownership of all financial operations, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and insightful business analysis across the property.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports
Oversee all financial accounting processes and statutory reporting requirements
Manage cash flow forecasting and banking relationships
Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process
Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability
Manage payroll, credit control and accounts payable functions
Produce benchmarking and commercial performance analysis
Support business improvement projects, systems development and process enhancements
Liaise with auditors and external stakeholders as required

The Ideal Candidate

ATT qualified or in the process of qualifying
Previous Financial Controller or senior finance leadership experience within hospitality
Strong commercial awareness and business partnering skills
Experience producing management accounts, budgets and forecasts
Proven ability to drive efficiencies and improve financial performance
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Hands-on leadership style with the ability to influence at all levels
