Junior Interior Designer

LOCATION
Perivale, London

EMPLOYMENT
Full-time, permanent
Office-based role

SALARY
£32,000–£35,000 DOE

HOURS Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.30pm | 37.5 paid hours per week | One-hour unpaid lunch break

The Role

We are looking for a Junior Interior Designer with at least two years of relevant professional experience to join our growing team. The position suits a designer who is ready to take greater ownership of projects while continuing to develop within a supportive and commercially focused environment.

Working closely with our Design, Sales, Operations and Installation teams, you will deliver projects from initial brief and concept development through to specification, client presentation and installation. You will manage your own design workstreams, support larger schemes and maintain clear communication across each stage of delivery.

Essential Requirements

At least two years’ professional experience in an interior design, furniture design or FF&E role.
Degree, diploma or recognised qualification in Interior Design, or equivalent professional experience.
A strong portfolio showing concept development, spatial planning, specification and presentation skills.
Confident working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, SketchUp and Microsoft PowerPoint.
Good Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills.
Experience preparing FF&E schedules, specifications and client-facing presentations.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work across several projects.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, commercial awareness and strong attention to detail.
Ability to work from our Perivale office during the advertised hours.

Salary, Benefits and Development

Salary of £32,000–£35,000 depending on experience and portfolio.
Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.30pm, based on 37.5 paid hours per week with a one-hour unpaid lunch break.
Permanent, full-time position with a three-month probationary period.
Private healthcare after probation and a company pension scheme.
20 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays.

About Base Furnishings

Base Furnishings is a London-based furniture and interior design company delivering furniture packages, bespoke concepts and complete interior schemes for property developers, Build to Rent (BTR) and Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) operators, estate agents, private investors and selected commercial clients.

Our work covers show homes, rental developments, student accommodation, communal areas and residential projects. We bring creative design and commercial delivery together to create interiors that meet each client’s brief, budget and programme.

Key Responsibilities

Develop furniture and interior schemes for residential, BTR, PBSA and selected commercial projects.
Interpret client briefs and translate them into creative, practical concepts that meet agreed budgets and timescales.
Produce mood boards, layouts, client presentations and 3D visuals.
Prepare FF&E schedules, product specifications and quotations in collaboration with the Sales Team.
Source furniture, fabrics, finishes, lighting, artwork and accessories from approved suppliers.
Create and amend drawings using SketchUp and relevant design software, with AutoCAD or equivalent technical drawing knowledge welcomed.
Present design ideas clearly to colleagues and clients and coordinate design information with suppliers and delivery teams.
Attend client meetings, site surveys and installations when required.
Manage several live projects while maintaining accurate records, schedules, meeting notes and presentation files.

Desirable Experience

Experience in residential development, BTR, PBSA, show homes or furniture packages.
Experience with Enscape, V-Ray or another rendering platform.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD or an equivalent technical drawing package.
Knowledge of UK furniture, fabric and accessory suppliers.
Experience supporting site installations and client presentations.
Experience with Sage or a similar business system. Training will be provided on our internal CRM and business systems.

Travel and Eligibility

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required for occasional client meetings and site visits, including project locations with limited public transport. Business mileage will be reimbursed.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
Availability to travel to project locations when required.
