Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic Sales Director to lead our sales function and drive growth across all our service areas. This is a pivotal leadership role: you will oversee sales performance across every department, bring deep technical understanding of our products and installation processes, and lead our solar sales team to success. You will work hand-in-hand with our marketing management team to shape strategy, generate demand, and maximise revenue.You will be comfortable multitasking across commercial, operational, and technical work — from using industry-leading software, to supporting deal closures (over the phone and in person), to managing budgets, contracts, and project delivery. If you have a background in renewable energy, strong commercial acumen, and a proven ability to lead teams and deliver results, this role is made for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop the entire sales team — with a specific focus on the solar PV sales division — setting targets, driving performance, and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Oversee sales operations across all departments: solar PV, windows, doors, and insulation, ensuring consistent growth and profitability.
- Work closely with the marketing management team to design sales strategies, align campaigns, and maximise lead conversion.
- Demonstrate expert use of OpenSolar and Hometree software for quoting, system design, project management, and reporting, and train the team in their effective use.
- Bring strong technical knowledge of our installation processes and products, ensuring the sales team and customers have accurate, clear information on how solutions are delivered.
- Personally support complex or high-value sales opportunities, assisting reps in closing deals both over the phone and in person.
- Manage end-to-end contract lifecycle — from negotiation and agreement to delivery and handover — ensuring compliance, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
- Take ownership of budgets, sales forecasts, project timelines, and technical delivery, ensuring all activity is commercially viable and on schedule.
- Use strong analytical skills to track performance, identify trends, solve problems, and implement improvements to processes, pricing, or sales approaches.
- Coordinate across departments to ensure seamless workflows, effective communication, and successful delivery of all projects.
What We’re Looking For Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working in renewable energy — specifically Solar PV.
- Proven experience , with a solid understanding of commercial terms, legal obligations, and project delivery.
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, with the ability to balance revenue goals, costs, and customer needs.
- Confident managing budgets, teams, timelines, and technical delivery of multiple complex projects at once.
- High proficiency in OpenSolar and Hometree — you will use these tools daily and guide others in their use.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to make clear, effective decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities — able to lead, influence, and build strong relationships at all levels.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment.
