Required skills and experience:
Extensive field experience, with a minimum of 300 days or over 3 years in a field-based role
Demonstrated experience in offshore analysis and sampling, with significant expertise in at least two of the following: asset chemist cover, microbiological surveys, mercury surveys, or offshore training and assessment
Strong commitment to personal development, evidenced by independently managing and maintaining an ongoing training programme
Experienced in producing and reviewing high-quality technical reports suitable for internal approval and client delivery
Strong organisational and time management skills, with a structured and methodical approach to work
Proven ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues at all levels, supported by excellent interpersonal skills
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong track record of engagement both internally and externally
A proactive, “hands-on” approach, with the flexibility to work across all levels and environments
Highly proficient in MS Office and data management, including accurate data entry and record-keeping
A safety-conscious, continuous improvement mindset, paired with a positive “can-do” attitude
High standards of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of business conduct
Strong initiative with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Adaptable and highly flexible in response to changing priorities and environments
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Senior Field Chemist, you will demonstrate a high level of technical competence across field analyses and testing, while also taking on additional responsibilities in mentoring, training, and supporting the wider Field Services team.
You will work in challenging offshore environments, primarily across the northern North Sea, contributing to a range of field projects and operational activities. You will also play a key role in supporting day-to-day Field Services operations when not deployed offshore.

Carry out offsite field projects as assigned – nominally up to 1 week per calendar month

Be involved in the preparation and planning of field projects

Undertake routine sampling, sample preservation and analyses as directed in the work scope

Provide training & assessment in analytical techniques for junior team members

Actively engage in Intertek’s performance culture focused on exceeding customer expectations

When not carrying out a field project, support day to day Field Services operations and provide first line support to Field Services Coordinators – this may include (but not be limited to):

Review client work scopes and assist with project planning

System housekeeping (planner, job tracker, dashboards, training records, Learning Management System, document reviews)

Review and submission of trip reports (in conjunction with Field Chemist post trip debrief)

Development of training materials and Field Procedures

Develop skills and knowledge towards deputising for Field Project Coordinator(s) and Outsourced Service Supervisors if/when necessary

Actively promote a strong team culture by supporting Grade 2 and Grade 1 Field Chemists in their goals and objectives

Provide training and assessment to external client delegates in regulatory Oil in Water analyses

Providing support for any other reasonable request for site operations
