CAD Designer / Design Engineer – Full Time
As CCS continues to grow, we’re looking for a CAD Designer / Design Engineer to join our in-house team designing bespoke commercial and specialist vehicle conversions.
This isn’t just a desk-based drawing role. We want someone who understands how things are actually built. You’ll be working closely with fabrication, electrical and production teams to create practical, production-ready designs that work in the real world — not just on a screen.
The work varies massively from one project to the next. One day could be designing lightweight racking systems or fabricated storage solutions, the next could be layout work for welfare units, emergency service vehicles, mobile workshops or specialist conversions.
Main responsibilities:
- Producing 2D and 3D CAD drawings for bespoke vehicle conversions
- Creating detailed manufacturing drawings for fabrication and assembly teams
- Designing sheet metal, fabricated parts, storage systems and mounting solutions
- Working alongside workshop staff to improve designs and solve production challenges
- 3d Scanning
- Measuring vehicles and components for design integration
- Supporting prototype and development builds
- Managing drawing revisions and technical documentation
- Assisting with new product development and continuous improvement
- Liaising with suppliers when required regarding components and manufacturing capabilities
What we’re looking for:
- Experience using CAD software is essential SOLIDWORKS and AUTO CAD
- Good understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes
- Ability to design with production and assembly in mind
- Strong attention to detail
- Practical thinker with good problem-solving ability
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple live projects
- Ability to communicate well with both office and workshop teams
- Automotive, commercial vehicle or bespoke manufacturing experience would be a strong advantage
Bonus skills:
- Sheet metal design experience
- Knowledge of CNC manufacturing processes
- Vehicle conversion or automotive industry experience
- Understanding of electrical integration layouts
- Experience creating exploded assembly or installation drawings
