This role is designed as a development pathway into a Commercial Manager position, providing hands-on exposure to trading and commercial decision-making.
The successful candidate will support the delivery of the business strategy by providing insight-led analysis, identifying opportunities and risks, and actively contributing to commercial performance and trading decisions, initially within our US, Australia and New Zealand markets..
Working closely with Commercial Managers, the role will also provide operational support and cover, ensuring continuity of trading decisions and performance management when required.
Accountabilities:
Trading & Decision Support
- Work in support of the Commercial Managers to recommend, plan and execute trading strategy, with increasing ownership over time
- Monitor and track the impact of all commercial and trading decisions, ensuring continuous performance improvement
- Participate in and gradually take a more active role in weekly trading meetings, presenting performance updates and recommendations
Commercial Performance & Insight
- Support the delivery of monthly P&L performance for an assigned business segment, including forecasting, tracking, and variance analysis
- Based on this analysis, provide recommendations for trading of products in marketing distributions for review by the Commercial Manager
- Lead analysis within the business area, translating data into clear insights, recommendations, and actionable opportunities
- Proactively identify risks and opportunities impacting sales, margin, and retention, escalating where appropriate
- Contribute to the achievement of overall commercial targets and KPIs
Development & Managerial Support
- Act as a key support to Commercial Managers, stepping in to provide cover where required
- Gradually take ownership of selected areas of responsibility, supporting succession planning within the team
- Develop a strong understanding of end-to-end commercial operations, including product, pricing, marketing, and sales dynamics
- Continuously build capability in commercial thinking, decision-making, and stakeholder management
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Support the development and execution of marketing activity, including selection of campaigns and performance evaluation
- Contribute to the weekly marketing summary, providing clear, insight-driven commentary
- Work closely with Product and Marketing teams to ensure delivery of the P&L plan
Commercial Planning & Reporting
- Maintain and evolve daily and weekly performance trackers, ensuring accuracy and visibility of key metrics to support trading and marketing decisions
- Assist in building forward-looking plans and scenarios to support decision-making
Qualifications/ skills/ experience / knowledge
Skills & Experience Required
- Self-motivated, with a proactive and positive approach and strong attention to detail
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to interpret data and understand business performance drivers
- Analytical, with the capability to translate data into clear insights and recommendations
- Strong communication skills, with confidence to present findings and influence decisions
- Advanced Excel skills essential (including pivot tables and handling large data sets)
- Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working at pace
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Desirable:
- Previous experience in commercial analysis
- Passion for the travel industry is advantageous
