About the role
Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Senior Quality Inspector for our Mottram Moor Link Road and A57 Link Road highways improvement scheme.
Balfour Beatty Highways maintain, manage and operate major highway networks across the UK and support local authorities creating communities where people want to live work and play.
As a Senior Quality Inspector, you will ensure that only approved materials are being received and that inspections and tests are carried out in accordance with the specification requirements and approved drawings. You will also participate in implementing quality control standards and procedures, and performing quality control checks and inspections on projects work and materials.
What you'll be doing
- Ensures the correct implementation of quality standards and procedures for testing received supplies and materials for conformities and non-conformities
- Performs regular inspections on labour activities engaged in quality control testing of materials and/ or finished work
- Inspects warehouses and storage areas and ensuring they are according to the set storing standards and conditions for maintaining the quality of materials and equipment
- Maintains records on all quality checks performed and ensures proper data entry onto the system and documents control
- Reports to the Quality engineers all cases of deficiency and/or Non Conformities and issues Quality reports as required
- Keeps records of quality inspections and informing Quality engineers with any difficulties encountered during inspection
Who we're looking for
The following qualities/experience are essential
- An understanding and commitment to Quality Management
- Ability to nurture strong relationships with delivery teams and project managers.
- Competent user of modern office computer systems e.g. Microsoft Office
The following are desirable
- A working knowledge of the sector in which the role is to operate
- An understanding and knowledge of ISO 9001 and Internal Audit
- Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts.
- Pays attention to detail and the ability to see things through to completion.
- Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective manner.
- Has good interpersonal and communication skills
- Is a self-starter who manages their own time
- Has an enquiring and questioning approach to audit work.
- Is able to work within a multi-discipline team.
- Is good at building relationships.
- Can demonstrate initiative and resilience.
