About the Firm:

We are a well-established forward thinking law firm with a strong reputation for delivering high quality legal services. As part of our continued expansion, we are looking to recruit a proactive and detail-orientated Compliance Assistant to support our compliance function.

The Role:

As Compliance Assistant you will play a key supporting role in ensuring the firm adheres to all regulatory and legal requirements. You will support the COLP/COFA and the Compliance Manager in maintaining effective risk and compliance management processes and promoting a culture of compliance across the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

o Assisting with the monitoring of compliance with SRA, ICO and Legal Ombudsman requirements

o Ensuring policies and procedures are kept-up-date and liaising with external consultants as and when required

o Dealing with enquiries in respect of AML,KYC and client due diligence checks

o Monitoring onboarding processes and occasionally assisting with onboarding as and when required

o Acting as a first point of contact for basic compliance queries

o Assisting with recording internal file reviews

o Distributing regulatory updates to staff

o Monthly monitoring of client balances

o Checking and maintaining compliance registers and records

Requirements:

o Previous experience in a compliance, legal administration or risk based role in a law firm (preferred)

o Knowledge of SRA regulations and their application

o Familiarity with AML and GDPR requirements

o Strong attention to detail

o Excellent written and verbal communication skills

o Well organised, able to manage own workload and meet deadlines

o Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
