About Us
Littler Machinery is a well-established supplier of quality used plant and construction machinery, serving customers across the UK and internationally. Based at our busy yard in Skelmersdale, we buy, sell, prepare, and advertise a wide range of machinery including excavators, loaders, dump trucks, dozers, rollers, telehandlers, and other plant equipment.
As the business continues to grow, we are looking for a motivated and switched-on Sales, Marketing & Procurement Support Assistant to help support the sales team, manage machinery adverts, assist with sourcing machines and parts, and improve our online presence.
Role Overview
This is a varied role suited to someone who is organised, practical, confident with technology, and interested in sales, marketing, machinery, auctions, research, and business development.
You will support the business by helping organise machines for sale, gathering machine information, taking photos and videos, creating adverts, managing social media campaigns, researching machinery for purchase, supporting procurement, sourcing parts, and helping with preparation planning.
The role would suit someone proactive, energetic, commercially aware, and willing to learn. Experience in plant machinery, auctions, sales, marketing, or procurement would be helpful, but the right attitude, attention to detail, and ability to get things done are just as important.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Support
Assist the sales team with day-to-day sales administration, customer enquiries, machine information, follow-ups, advert preparation, and stock updates.
Machinery Organisation
Help organise machines in the yard for photography, inspection, advertising, preparation, and customer viewings.
Data & Machine Information
Gather and record machine details including make, model, year, hours, serial numbers, specifications, condition, attachments, service history, preparation requirements, and any known issues.
Photography & Video
Take clear photos and videos of machinery for adverts, social media, website listings, stock records, and customer enquiries.
Advertising & Listings
Create, upload, and manage machinery adverts across websites, sales platforms, auction platforms, and online marketplaces. Keep listings accurate, current, and professionally presented.
Social Media & Marketing
Create and manage social media posts and campaigns across platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and other relevant channels.
Website Updates
Assist with updating the company website, adding new machines, removing sold items, updating descriptions, improving presentation, and keeping machine listings accurate.
Procurement Support
Assist with sourcing machinery, parts, attachments, and consumables from suppliers, auction sites, dealers, online platforms, and industry contacts.
Auction & Market Research
Search auction platforms and machinery sales websites for suitable machines, compare pricing, check specifications, review condition reports, and identify potential buying opportunities.
Research Reports
Prepare basic research reports on machines, market values, auction opportunities, comparable listings, transport considerations, likely preparation costs, and resale potential.
Machine Preparation Support
Help coordinate preparation requirements before sale, including cleaning, repairs, parts ordering, photographs, videos, workshop updates, and advert readiness.
Parts & Supplier Support
Assist with finding parts, checking availability, comparing prices, contacting suppliers, tracking orders, and keeping records of parts needed for machines.
Customer Communication
Support with responding to customer enquiries, sending photos, videos, specifications, machine details, and updates where required.
Sales Campaigns
Help plan and deliver sales and marketing campaigns for machinery, promotions, new stock, featured machines, auction opportunities, and company updates.
General Business Support
Assist with general admin, advert tracking, procurement records, stock records, marketing ideas, yard coordination, supplier chases, and other tasks needed to support the sales and buying process.
Requirements
Previous experience in sales support, marketing, procurement, machinery, auctions, vehicles, construction, plant hire, parts sourcing, or a similar environment would be beneficial, but is not essential.
The ideal candidate will be:
Confident using phones, emails, WhatsApp, spreadsheets, websites, and online platforms
Comfortable taking photos and videos
Interested in sales, marketing, machinery, vehicles, auctions, or construction equipment
Able to research machines, compare prices, and gather useful information
Organised and able to manage multiple adverts, enquiries, and machine details at once
Accurate with data, descriptions, specifications, and written information
Proactive, reliable, and willing to take responsibility
Confident speaking with staff, customers, suppliers, dealers, and auction contacts
Able to work both in the office and outside in the yard
Practical, hands-on, and happy to get involved where needed
Creative enough to help improve adverts, posts, and campaigns
Commercially minded, with an interest in buying and selling machinery
Willing to learn about plant machinery, pricing, parts, preparation, and the sales process
A driving licence would be beneficial.
