Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is a lifesaving charity that brings advanced critical care to people across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight when they need it most. As part of our Engagement Team, the Marketing Team plays a vital role in building awareness, inspiring support and helping our communities understand the impact of our work.
Purpose of the Role
The Marketing Officer will support the planning, delivery and evaluation of marketing activity across Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. The role has a particular focus on email marketing, digital communications, website content and supporter journeys with a goal of achieving sustainable income growth through the acquisition and retention of regular and legacy donors.
Working closely with colleagues across the Marketing Team and wider Engagement Team, the postholder will create compelling content, manage email campaigns, maintain website content and help ensure effective integration between our digital platforms and supporter database. The role will contribute to engagement, awareness, income generation, and supporter retention objectives through high-quality, innovative and data-driven audience-focused communications.
Key Responsibilities
Email Marketing and Supporter Journeys
- Plan, build, test and deploy email campaigns using the charity’s email marketing platform (currently Dot Digital).
- Develop and manage automated supporter journeys and nurture campaigns.
- Segment audiences to deliver relevant and personalised communications.
- Monitor campaign performance and produce reports on key metrics, including open rates, click-through rates, conversions and engagement.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR, PECR, DUAA, consent preferences and best practice.
- Support continuous improvement of supporter communications through testing and optimisation.
Website and Digital Content
- Create, edit and publish content for the charity website.
- Maintain website content to ensure accuracy, relevance and consistency.
- Work with colleagues to improve user experience and supporter journeys.
- Support search engine optimisation (SEO) through effective copywriting and content management.
- Assist with website development projects and digital improvements.
Content Creation and Campaign Delivery
- Produce engaging written content for marketing campaigns, fundraising initiatives, events and supporter communications.
- Write and edit copy for emails, webpages, campaign materials, publications and other marketing assets.
- Support the planning and delivery of integrated marketing campaigns.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to identify and develop stories that demonstrate the impact of the charity’s work.
- Help ensure brand consistency across all communications channels.
CRM and Data Integration
- Support the effective integration of email marketing systems, website forms and the charity’s CRM database.
- Work with colleagues to maintain data quality and supporter records.
- Assist with reporting and audience selection using Donorfy and related systems.
- Help develop processes that improve efficiency and supporter experience.
Team Working
- Work collaboratively within the Marketing Team and wider Engagement Team.
- Contribute ideas and insight to campaign planning and marketing development.
- Support colleagues during key campaigns, events and organisational priorities.
- Champion the charity’s values and culture in all aspects of work.

Essential Knowledge and Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience in a marketing or communications role.
- Experience of delivering email marketing campaigns using an email marketing platform.
- Knowledge of SEO principles and digital marketing best practice.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CRM.
Desirable Knowledge and Experience
- Experience using Dot Digital or similar email marketing platforms.
- Experience using CRM systems.
- Experience working within the charity or not-for-profit sector.

This role is based at our headquarters and airbase at Southampton International Airport.
Occasional evening and weekend working will be required to support campaigns, events and organisational activities.
