Full job description

Structural Steel Welder / Fabricator

We are a small family run structural steel fabrication company. We are looking for a full time enthusiastic and hard working welder / fabricator to join our team. We deal with heavy gauge structural steels like portal frames and single / multi storey buildings. We sometimes do architectural work but this is a small percentage. We don't work with aluminium or stainless steel.

Desired Skills and qualities:

The Candidate would ideally be time served and fully competent in fabrication and welding mild steel members. Welding is generally a minimum 6mm fillet, through to 15mm multi run. Butt welding is sometimes required.
Knowledge of welding machine set up and parameters.
Experience driving a fork truck and handling large beams.
Experience with grinding, mag drilling, disc cutting.
A good understanding of fabrication drawings.
A certain amount of physical strength due to some manual handling and turning of beams in the workshop.
An understanding on how to examine work pieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications.

Over time is often available.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £16.00 per hour
