We are looking to recruit a Yard Operative to work at our Bury yard in Bury St Edmunds (IP29 4SZ). This is a part time position; the hours of work can be adapted to the ideal candidate and is open to discussion. The yard is generally open Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 17:00.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Assist workers with loading/unloading Company vehicles with equipment and materials at the beginning/end of the working day
- Repair and maintain machinery, e.g. repair/replace ride on tractor/trailer tyres, sharpen flail/mower blades
- Welding/fabricating of minor repairs to machinery (larger repairs are sent to agricultural engineers off site)
- Machine servicing, e.g. oil/spark plug change, cleaning carburetor/air filters, bearing/belt replacements
- Trailer servicing, e.g. leaf spring replacement, wheel nut check
- Minor Company vehicle repairs, e.g. light bulb replacements
- Clean Company vehicles
- Source and order parts
- Maintain yard cleanliness and organisation, e.g. empty bins, move pallets/materials. Use of a telehandler will be required
- Water stock plants when necessary
- Conduct regular inspections of the equipment and yard to identify any maintenance or safety issues
- Travel offsite in a Company vehicle to help fix machine/trailer break downs or to collect parts
Requirements:
- Full clean driving licence
- Mechanical knowledge
- Ability to work independently

Salary
Starting from £12.71 per hour depending on experience. Salary will be discussed upon interview.
