About the Role
Palmer Brickwork Ltd is seeking an experienced Brickwork Snagger / Finisher (Bricklayer) to join our growing team working on residential housing developments across Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
This role is ideal for a bricklayer with excellent attention to detail who takes pride in delivering high-quality finished work. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out remedial brickwork repairs, plot snagging and finishing works to ensure completed plots meet company standards, client expectations and NHBC requirements prior to handover.
The role will involve travelling between sites as required, with most projects located within approximately one hour of Mildenhall, Suffolk.
Whilst the primary responsibility of this position is carrying out snagging and remedial works, there will be occasions when snagging requirements are reduced. During these periods, the successful candidate will be incorporated into our bricklaying dayworks teams and will be expected to assist with general bricklaying, making-good works and other site activities as required. This provides continuity of work and long-term opportunities for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out brickwork snagging and remedial works on completed plots.
- Replacing chipped, damaged or defective bricks.
- Mortar tinting and colour matching where required.
- Filling holes, making good and carrying out localised repairs.
- Brickwork clay repairs to chipped and damaged brick faces.
- Scraping down and cleaning brickwork.
- Repointing defective or damaged mortar joints.
- Cutting back and tidying DPCs where required.
- Removing mortar stains and ensuring a clean finished appearance.
- Repairing minor brickwork defects identified by Site Management, NHBC Inspectors or Quality Control teams.
- Making good around service penetrations, meter boxes and openings.
- Repairing damaged perp and bed joints.
- Closing out plot snags and quality defects efficiently.
- Carrying out final quality inspections before plots are handed over.
- Assisting bricklaying dayworks teams and carrying out general bricklaying duties when snagging workloads are reduced.
- Working closely with Site Managers, Supervisors and Contracts Managers to ensure all snagging works are completed efficiently.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working area at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in brickwork snagging, finishing, remedial works or bricklaying.
- Strong knowledge of brickwork construction and quality standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Ability to identify defects and carry out repairs to a high standard.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to travel between sites across Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working on NHBC residential housing developments.
- Experience carrying out mortar tinting and colour matching.
- Experience with brick repair systems and specialist finishing techniques.
- Knowledge of NHBC quality requirements and plot handover standards.
- Experience working directly with Site Management teams to close out quality issues and plot snags.
