Timber Ridge Loft Boarding is a rapidly growing specialist loft boarding company operating across Derbyshire, High Peak, and Greater Manchester. Due to continued expansion we are recruiting a Trainee Lead Installer to join the team — a structured role designed to take the right person from trained installer through to running their own jobs independently within a short timeframe.
The opportunity
This role has been created specifically to develop the next Lead Installer within Timber Ridge. You will be trained thoroughly in our installation system from day one, working alongside an experienced installer before progressing to managing your own jobs and your own labourer. For the right candidate, this progression is fast and the earning potential reflects it.
We are not looking for someone to fill a labouring position indefinitely. We are looking for someone with the trade foundation, the work ethic, and the mindset to step up.
The role
This is a mobile role covering residential properties across Derbyshire, High Peak, and Greater Manchester. You will be travelling between jobs throughout the working week — different locations, different properties, different challenges every day. If you enjoy variety and the freedom of being out on the road rather than tied to one site, this will suit you well. A company van is provided and you will be responsible for driving between jobs daily across our service area.
Duties include loft boarding installation, hatch and ladder fitting, lighting installation, and general site management. As you progress you will take on full responsibility for each job — managing a labourer, ensuring every installation is completed to Timber Ridge’s exacting standards, and representing the business professionally on every site you attend.
This is physically demanding work in confined spaces. Lofts are tight, dusty, and unforgiving of poor workmanship. We need someone who understands the realities of trade work, takes genuine pride in what they produce, and holds themselves to a high standard without prompting.
What we are looking for
A full valid UK driving licence — essential, as daily travel between jobs across our service area is a core part of this role. A background in joinery or general building work — essential. You are comfortable with tools and materials, you learn quickly, and you do not make the same mistake twice. You are reliable, physically fit, and ready to work hard in a role that rewards effort directly.
Experience working as part of a small site team or managing a labourer is advantageous but not essential for the right candidate.
Remuneration & progression
£100 per day during the training period
£150 per day (£37,500 per annum)+
upon progression to Lead Installer — this transition is fast for the right person
