Founded in 2005 ASL has grown steadily through difficult economic times to develop a diverse portfolio of clients covering both the residential, commercial and infrastructure sectors. As a small business ASL is able to offer successful candidates an excellent opportunity to be fully involved in all aspects of geo-environmental consultancy within a highly experienced, skilled and efficient team of professional geo-environmental consultants.
The position will involve both field and office based works.
We are looking for capable candidates from graduates to those with upto five years practical experience in the geo-environmental industry. Understanding and/or experience is required in Phase 1 desk studies, Phase 2 ground investigations, remediation strategy development and validation of remediation works. We would also consider graduate applications with a suitable degree in a relevant subject.
The successful candidate will be expected to take responsibility for the planning of field operations in terms of technical direction, health and safety and management of a range of ground investigation sub-contractors. Applicants should have a good working knowledge of health and safety with regard to site works. Experience in managing subcontractors is required, particularly drilling contractors and plant suppliers. Experience is also required in working on active industrial and commercial or development sites. Experience and competence in logging to current BS5930 is required. Shortfalls in experience and knowledge of candidates and particularly graduates will be supported by in-house and external training.
The role will involve the management and supervision of fieldwork and data gathering including the scheduling and analysis of laboratory test results and geotechnical and contaminated land factual and interpretative reporting. The successful candidate will be expected to liaise with client's and their representatives and regulatory authorities both verbally and in writing and so good communications skills are essential to the role.
A degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or Geotechnical Engineering is preferred; a Masters degree in a relevant subject would be an asset but not essential. Current Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card is desirable. Guidance will be provided to successful graduate candidates on CSCS card training and applications.
Any shortfalls in the successful candidate's training or experience will be addressed by a period of in-house and external training on joining the company. As such graduates in a relevant degree with minimal experience are welcome to apply for a more junior position.
