Food Runner & Server
Job Purpose
The Food Runner & Server is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service by ensuring guests receive a warm welcome, efficient table service, and food that is delivered quickly and accurately. This role combines front-of-house service with food running duties, supporting both the restaurant floor and kitchen to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
The successful candidate will be proactive, organised, and passionate about creating exceptional guest experiences while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and professionalism.
Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Service
- Welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Take food and drink orders accurately using the EPOS system.
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge of the food and drinks menus.
- Make recommendations and upsell menu items, drinks, and promotions where appropriate.
- Ensure guests receive attentive and efficient service throughout their visit.
- Handle guest requests professionally and escalate any concerns to management where necessary.
- Present bills, process payments accurately, and thank guests as they leave.
Food Running
- Deliver food promptly from the kitchen to the correct table.
- Ensure every dish is complete, correctly presented, and served to the right guest.
- Communicate effectively with chefs and the front-of-house team regarding delays, dietary requirements, and special requests.
- Maintain food quality by ensuring dishes are delivered quickly.
- Assist in maintaining a smooth flow of service during busy periods.
Restaurant Operations
- Set up and prepare the restaurant before service.
- Maintain clean, organised, and fully stocked service stations.
- Clear, clean, and reset tables promptly.
- Polish cutlery, glassware, crockery, and service equipment.
- Restock condiments, napkins, and other service items throughout the shift.
- Assist with opening and closing duties.
- Support colleagues across all areas of the business when required.
Standards & Compliance
- Follow all food hygiene, allergen, licensing, and health and safety procedures.
- Maintain excellent personal hygiene and professional appearance at all times.
- Wear the correct uniform and represent the business professionally.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, bar, or hospitality environment is preferred but not essential.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Positive attitude with a genuine passion for hospitality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and organisational skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible.

Physical Requirements
