This is a new and exciting position, part-funded by the Welsh Government through the Environmental Engineering Placements Programme, which supports individuals in gaining practical experience, encourages long-term careers in environmental engineering, and helps build the future workforce for this vital sector.
Key Responsibilities
Provide crucial support to the Authority’s statutory functions in the field of Flood and Water Management, with a focus on flood and coastal risk management and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).
- Contribute to the preparation of grant applications, tenders, and contract documents.
- Aid in the design and implementation of highway and drainage improvement schemes.
We are looking for:
A graduate with a Level 4 qualification (HNC/HND or industry equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Drainage, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline, with knowledge of drainage and flood risk management principles
- Someone with experience of applying learning through coursework, design projects, dissertations, fieldwork, laboratory work or simulations relevant to flood risk, drainage or infrastructure.
- Someone with experience of analysing technical information and working to specifications, standards or guidance as part of structured academic work.
- Experience of collaborative working through group projects, presentations, or problem‑solving tasks, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.

The successful applicant will be offered a range of training to upskill in the field of Flood & Coastal Risk Management or mining legacy management. We will provide corporate-related training and mentoring and will allow the successful applicant to attend a range of training (up to 4 courses during the period). The successful candidate will also be offered an opportunity to attend any annual related conferences.
