We're looking for an organised and ambitious Accounts Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day finance operations and play a key role in supporting the continued growth of the business.
The Role
This is a hands-on position responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing reconciliations, supporting month-end processes and ensuring strong financial controls across the group.
You will work closely with company directors, external accountants, payroll providers and operational teams, giving you exposure to all areas of the business and genuine opportunities for career progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the group Xero accounts
- Complete bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
- Process, code and reconcile supplier invoices
- Manage day-to-day finance administration across the group
Invoice & Systems Management
- Manage supplier invoices through Dext
- Monitor invoice workflows and approval processes
- Ensure sales data is accurately integrated and reconciled
- Support improvements to finance systems and processes
Month-End & Reporting
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Complete month-end reconciliations accurately and on schedule
- Provide financial information and reporting to directors
- Liaise with external accountants to support timely reporting
Payments & Financial Controls
- Prepare supplier payment runs for director approval
- Process payments in line with company procedures
- Maintain strong financial controls and audit trails
- Support cash flow monitoring and forecasting activities
Payroll Support
- Assist with monthly payroll processes alongside external providers
- Maintain employee finance records
- Support ongoing payroll process improvements
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy at all times
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and efficiencies
- Support finance and systems projects
- Help develop a more structured finance function
- Contribute to improved reporting and business visibility
What We're Looking For
- Extensive hands-on experience using Xero
- Strong bookkeeping and reconciliation experience
- Excellent understanding of accounting principles
- Experience working within an SME environment
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
- Professional, trustworthy and dependable approach
- Strong communication skills
- Willingness to learn, improve and grow with the business
Desirable
- Experience using Dext or similar invoice management software
- Retail, ecommerce or multi-channel business experience
- Payroll experience or payroll administration exposure
- AAT qualification or equivalent finance qualification
- Experience supporting management accounts preparation
- Interest in systems, controls and process improvement
