Bar Manager
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and driven Bar Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a new opening neighbourhood bar. The successful candidate will lead from the front, deliver outstanding customer experiences, manage staff, maintain high operational standards and drive profitability.
This is a hands-on management role where you'll be expected to work on the floor, motivate the team and ensure the business runs efficiently every day.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the venue.
- Lead shifts and provide clear direction to the team.
- Ensure the bar is clean, organised and operating to a high standard at all times.
- Open and close the venue following company procedures.
- Ensure all licensing and health & safety regulations are adhered to.
Customer Experience
- Deliver exceptional customer service.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
- Resolve customer issues professionally and efficiently.
- Build relationships with regular customers and encourage repeat business.
Team Management
- Produce weekly staff rotas in line with labour budgets.
- Lead, motivate and develop the team.
- Train new staff and maintain high service standards.
- Monitor team performance and provide ongoing coaching.
Stock Control
- Complete accurate weekly stock takes.
- Place weekly orders with suppliers.
- Receive and check deliveries.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels whilst minimising wastage.
- Investigate and report stock variances.
Beer Quality
- Carry out regular beer line cleaning to brewery standards.
- Ensure all draught products are presented in perfect condition.
- Maintain cellar cleanliness and organisation.
Financial Performance
- Work towards agreed Gross Profit (GP) targets.
- Control wastage and labour costs.
- Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to increase revenue.
- Support budgeting and cost control initiatives.
Events & Business Growth
- Plan, organise and execute bar events.
- Work with management on promotions and marketing initiatives.
- Help drive footfall through creative event planning and local engagement.
- Identify opportunities to grow sales and improve customer retention.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience managing or supervising a busy bar or hospitality venue.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Experience managing rotas and staffing levels.
- Good stock control and ordering experience.
- Understanding of GP and cost control.
- Ability to work under pressure and make decisions confidently.
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Desirable:
- Personal Licence Holder.
- Cellar management and beer line cleaning experience.
- Experience planning successful hospitality events.
- Knowledge of stock management systems and EPOS software.

Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
