Reporting to the Front Office Manager, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Front Office, delivering exceptional guest service while supporting the achievement of departmental quality, revenue and profitability objectives.
About the Role
As Front Office Assistant Manager, you will lead by example, ensuring every guest receives a warm welcome and outstanding service from reservation through to departure.
You will support the Front Office Manager with the daily operation of Reception while motivating the team to consistently exceed guest expectations.
At Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort you will become part of a team committed to delivering exceptional hospitality in one of Wiltshire's most beautiful locations.
This is a permanent role, ideally full-time but will consider part-time contracts, working on a rota basis Monday to Sunday. Shift pattern: 06.45-15.15 and 14.30-23.00.
Reliable transport is essential due to location and shift times. This is an ideal commute for those in Calne, Chippenham, Devizes, Swindon, Bath and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Front Office Manager in the day-to-day management of the Front Office operation.
- Deliver exceptional guest service throughout every stage of the guest journey.
- Supervise Reception and Front Office colleagues, providing coaching, guidance and support.
- Assist with rota planning, team development and maintaining high operational standards.
- Ensure efficient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Provide a friendly, professional and efficient telephone service.
- Handle reservations and enquiries for accommodation, spa, golf, dining and all areas across the resort.
- Complete all reservation administration accurately and efficiently.
- Maximise room occupancy and revenue opportunities while maintaining excellent guest satisfaction.
- Resolve guest queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Liaise closely with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Spa, Golf and other departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and brand standards.
- Assist with reporting, administration and Front Office performance objectives.
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality and enjoys leading from the front.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Front Office Supervisor, Assistant Front Office Manager or Senior Receptionist within a hotel environment.
- Excellent customer service and guest relations skills.
- Experience managing hotel reservations and Front Office administration.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A calm, positive approach in a busy environment.
- Confidence handling guest enquiries and resolving issues professionally.
- Good IT skills and experience using hotel property management systems (Opera PMS experience would be advantageous but is not essential).
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
- A genuine passion for creating memorable guest experiences.
