Role Purpose
We are looking for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our growing Employment team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of high-quality matters, build strong client relationships and play a key role in the continued growth of the team.
The Role
Key Responsibilities
Contentious Work
- Advise on all types of Employment Tribunal and High Court claims, including high value and complex disputes, and on how to minimise litigation risk
- Handle whistleblowing matters, discrimination allegations, and tribunal preparation and proceedings
Non-Contentious & Advisory Work
- Advise on the full range of day-to-day employment law matters including contracts, policies, disciplinary and grievance procedures, and performance management
- Provide strategic and commercial advice in relation to business reorganisations, redundancies and restructuring, TUPE, and the employment aspects of corporate deals
- Advise high net worth individuals and senior executives in relation to appointments, exit strategies, restrictive covenants, team moves and use of confidential information
Caseload & Client Service
- Manage your own caseload while supporting senior colleagues on complex matters
- Deliver clear, pragmatic and commercially focused adviceBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients and referrers
- Act as a trusted advisor with a deep understanding of client businesses and sectors
Business Development
- Contribute to networking, profile-raising and relationship-building activities
- Play an active role in growing the team and identifying new opportunities
Team Contribution
- Work collaboratively across teams and offices
- Support and mentor junior colleagues (Senior Associate level)
- Contribute to a positive, collegiate and high-performing team culture
About You
What We’re Looking For:
Our ideal candidate will be a qualified Employment solicitor, with between NQ- 3PQE (Associate) and 4+PQE (Senior Associate)
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Strong technical expertise across a broad range of employment matters, including both contentious and non-contentious work.
- Confidence in managing your own caseload, while also contributing effectively to wider team matters.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice.
- A strong level of commercial awareness and a genuine interest in understanding clients’ businesses, sectors and strategic objectives.
- The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues and professional contacts.
- A proactive, collaborative approach, with a willingness to contribute to team success and business development activities.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality work and excellent client service in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
- Drive and ambition to continue developing your skills and progressing your career within a supportive and growing team.
Key Measures of success:
- Full compliance with Firm policies, including total time capture
- Positive client feedback and repeat instructions
- Active participation in business development activities leading to the winning of new clients and work (with expectations appropriately scaled to experience and seniority)
