We build and connect technologies to help protect people, property and places. Our solutions foster the collaboration that’s critical for safer communities, safer schools, safer hospitals, safer businesses, and ultimately, safer nations. Connect with a career that matters, and help us build a safer future.
At CRFS (A Motorola Solutions Company), we create the world’s most advanced technology for monitoring the radio spectrum. We are looking for a highly capable, hands-on Test and Validation Engineer (RF Systems) to join our team in Cambridge and lead the verification of systems that keep people safer everywhere. In this role, you will be instrumental in turning cutting-edge prototypes into mission-ready realities.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role at the heart of our Systems Engineering team, serving as the vital link between prototype development and mission-ready product release . You will balance structured V-model verification with rapid "fail-fast" testing to ensure our world-class RF systems are robust, reliable, and technically superior . If you take pride in technical problem-solving and love the challenge of uncovering emergent issues in complex, integrated hardware and software, this is the role for you .
Verification Strategy: Define and execute system-level validation plans that balance rigorous testing with delivery speed to ensure risks are retired early in the development cycle .
Prototype Testing: Plan and conduct functional, performance, and stress testing in both lab and field environments to feed critical results back into design decisions .
System Integration: Validate complete systems, ensuring that integrated hardware, RF, software, and mechanical elements perform seamlessly as intended .
Fault-Finding & Root Cause: Lead investigations into complex technical issues across multiple domains, supporting fault-finding from the embedded level to mechanical integration .
Infrastructure Improvement: Develop and maintain high-quality test rigs, fixtures, and automated procedures to improve the repeatability and efficiency of our validation activities .
Documentation & Reporting: Produce clear, evidence-based documentation that supports technical reviews, NPI handover, and engineering changes .
Experience: A proven background in the test, validation, or integration of complex RF or electronics-based systems, preferably within an NPI or R&D environment .
Technical Proficiency: Expert hands-on experience using diagnostic tools like spectrum analysers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes to measure and verify RF performance .
Diagnostic Skills: A methodical approach to troubleshooting integrated hardware/software issues, with a proactive ability to operate as a "devil's advocate" during the design phase .
Educational Foundation: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, or a related field .
Mindset: A practical, evidence-driven professional who is comfortable working with imperfect prototypes and can balance delivery pace with verification confidence .
Equivalent practical experience is highly valued; we encourage applications even if you don't meet 100% of the criteria .
Based at our state-of-the-art facility in Cambridge (Bourn Quarter), you will join a collaborative and high-energy engineering team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of spectrum intelligence . This is a full-time, hands-on role where your expertise directly influences our next-generation products and ensures that CRFS continues to deliver industry-leading reliability . You will work at the cutting edge of RF innovation, moving between laboratory-based verification and field testing trials .
In return for your expertise, we’ll support your professional growth with personalised coaching and development every step of the way. To reward your hard work, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed for your financial, physical, and personal well-being:
Financial & Future Security: Competitive salary, performance bonuses, and a two-week annual holiday bonus.
