Job Purpose
This is a varied and demanding role supporting the Bursar in both the effective day-to-day management of the College and delivery of our transformation programme. Working closely with the Bursarial team and reporting to the Compliance Manager, the postholder will contribute across a broad portfolio including governance, compliance, operational delivery and project work.
The role combines high-level administrative support with project coordination, data analysis and operational improvement. The postholder will play a key role in enabling effective decision-making, coordinating governance processes and supporting the delivery of priorities across the College.
Alongside managing key administrative processes and committee support, the role will involve contributing to a range of projects and workstreams. This may include analysing data, coordinating surveys, tracking delivery against plans and producing clear, high-quality reports to inform decisions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and motivated individual who is keen to take on responsibility, develop their skills and gain exposure to a wide range of operational activity. The role offers a mix of autonomy and collaborative working, and would suit someone who is organised, analytical and able to manage competing priorities with confidence.
We are looking for someone who is curious, adaptable and proactive, with strong judgement and a willingness to engage with new areas of work. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with data and systems, able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, and motivated to contribute to improving how the College operates. They will have a genuine commitment to the College’s educational purposes.

“Hughes Hall was founded in 1885 to change Cambridge, to change the lives of those who studied here and, through them, to bring about positive change in society through the transformative power of education. As we approach the College’s 150th birthday, we are updating that vision for 2030 and beyond, building on the unique and special College that we already have.”
“Our College is founded on clear values: inclusion, innovation and impact. These values are mutually reinforcing, and they run through everything we do. They are the basis of our offer to our students, researchers, staff and senior members.”
“Like our founders, we want to transform the College and, through it, the lives of the people who come to learn, to teach and to do research. And through them to change society for the better.”
Sir Laurie Bristow, President.
