Job Overview
Pippa Heylings MP is seeking a highly proactive, creative and organised Communications Officer to support the delivery of engaging MP communications that achieve cut through in the media and across communities in the constituency. This is a varied role combining digital content creation, social media and press, as well as innovative opportunities to increase the visibility and impact of the MP’s campaigns on the issues that matter to her constituents, working under the supervision of the Senior Communications Officer.
Duties
- Design and deliver compelling communications for the MP’s constituency and Westminster activity
- Create, publish and amplify digital content, using insights to improve reach and engagement
- Manage and grow the MP’s presence across social media platforms
- Write and produce content for the MP’s website
- Draft and distribute press releases, opinion pieces and statements to local media
- Help to coordinate and publicise community events and stakeholder engagements organised by the MP's office
- Accompany the MP to visits and events, facilitating arrangements, taking notes and photographs
- Monitor local media coverage and compile regular press summaries to identify campaign opportunities
- Respond to media enquiries under the guidance of the Senior Communications Officer
- Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure communications are delivered according to the communications plan
- Provide general administrative support
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience in digital content creation, placement and monitoring
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A strong willingness to learn and collaborate under tight deadlines
- Good photographic, video and editing skills
- Experience of working with social media platforms and managing websites
- Working on your own initiative
- Right to work in the UK
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Full driving licence and access to a car
Pay: £26,039.00-£29,000.00 per year
