Overview
We are seeking a friendly and professional Cashier/Sales Assistant to join our retail team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting with sales, and ensuring the smooth operation of the checkout process. We are currently looking for weekend shifts and 2 days during the week (Minimum). The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, organisational abilities, and a proactive attitude to enhance the shopping experience for our customers. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop retail skills within a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases in a courteous manner
- Operate the cash register efficiently, handling cash, card payments, and refunds accurately
- Provide information about products and promotions to encourage sales through upselling techniques
- Maintain organised merchandising displays to attract customer attention and optimise sales opportunities
- Answer customer enquiries via phone or in person using professional phone etiquette
- Manage stock levels on the shop floor and assist with stock replenishment as needed
- Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the checkout area and surrounding displays
- Support team members during busy periods by sharing responsibilities and maintaining a positive attitude
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
- Experience in merchandising or retail sales is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
- Ability to demonstrate good phone etiquette when interacting with customers over the phone and in person
- Organised with good attention to detail and organisational skills to maintain a tidy workspace
- Friendly, approachable manner with excellent interpersonal skills
