Manage the Grant Programme
Lead the administration of Royal Papworth Charity's £3 million annual grant programme, overseeing the full grant lifecycle from application to evaluation. Ensure funding is allocated fairly, transparently and in line with strategic priorities.
Support Innovation
Work with clinical, research and operational teams to develop high-quality funding applications, providing guidance to support projects that improve patient care, staff wellbeing and research.
Monitor Impact
Build relationships with funded project leads to evaluate outcomes, capture impact and produce reports and case studies that demonstrate the value of charitable funding.
Strengthen Governance
Ensure grant-making complies with charity regulations, NHS governance and best practice. Maintain accurate records, improve processes and support reporting and audit requirements.
Build Partnerships
Develop strong relationships across the hospital, supporting applicants throughout the funding process and working with fundraising colleagues to showcase the impact of funded projects.
Drive Improvement
Help shape the future of the grant programme by improving systems, embedding best practice and promoting innovation, collaboration and measurable impact.

- Knowledge acquired through diploma or equivalent experience / training, plus further management knowledge or experience to degree level equivalent
- Experience in grant administration, programme management or a related role within a charity, NHS organisation, research environment or public sector body.
- Experience in developing innovative service delivery programmes for large and complex organisations
- Experience assessing applications, interpreting budgets and reviewing project plans.
- Experience producing reports and communicating impact to varied audiences.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders, ideally including clinicians, researchers or operational teams.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess proposals objectively and identify risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to draft clear guidance, assessments and reports.
- Innovation and proposition or product development skill set
- High attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping and data management.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Work confidently and independently within agreed professional guidelines, with the insight to recognise when to escalate
- Confident using digital tools, including grant management systems, CRM platforms and Microsoft Office.
