Application deadline: Wednesday 26 August 2026, 23:59 BST

Location: The consultant may be based anywhere. All training and technical support will be delivered virtually.

Duration: The consultancy is expected to be conducted over a period of 20 working days between August and September 2026, including preparation, delivery of training sessions and submission of all deliverables.

BirdLife International, through its Preventing Extinctions Programme and in partnership with SOS-Forêts, is implementing the project, ‘Restoring Vulture Populations in Côte d’Ivoire through Community-Based Conservation.’ The project aims to improve the conservation status of threatened vultures in and around Comoé National Park by addressing the drivers of belief-based use and trade, strengthening stakeholder awareness, and building local capacity for conservation action.

The consultant will provide technical support to strengthen the social marketing capacity of SOS-Forêts in support of vulture conservation under the Restoring Vulture Populations in Côte d’Ivoire through Community-Based Conservation project.

EXPECTED DELIVERABLES:

Report on the SOS capacity needs related to social marketing with emphasis on existing capacities, training needs, and recommendations for training focus.
Social Marketing Training Package, including presentations, trainer’s guides, participant handouts, practical exercises, case studies, tools and reference resources. These must be delivered in French.
Set of social marketing planning and baseline research tools developed with SOS-Forêts staff during the training process, including stakeholder mapping, audience segmentation, behaviour analysis, baseline research instruments (questionnaires, interview guides, and other data collection tools), and draft elements of a Social Marketing campaign strategy.
Training Delivery Report, including agenda, participant list, training evaluation results, key outcomes, and recommendations for further capacity strengthening.
Final Consultancy Report, summarising activities undertaken, outputs delivered, recommendations and next steps.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Advanced university degree in, Behaviour Change, Social Sciences, Conservation Biology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.

Experience

At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in Behaviour Change and Social Marketing.
Proven experience in designing and delivering capacity-building and training programmes.
Experience working with conservation, biodiversity or community-based natural resource management projects.
Experience in Africa, preferably West Africa, is an advantage.

Skills

Excellent facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong training and capacity-building skills.
Ability to develop practical tools and guidance materials.
Excellent written and spoken French.
Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outputs within agreed timelines.
