Summary
Inspire and transform learning with us at Harris Science Academy East London. We are currently looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to work collaboratively with teaching staff to improve the outcomes of students with a variety of needs, including those with EHCPs.
The actual salary for this role will be £27,588-£28,800 (37.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year ).

The school joined the Harris Federation in September 2022. Main Areas of Responsibility
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SEN team to support student progress
- Supporting students with SEN to engage positively in learning and the classroom environment
- Demonstrating a proactive approach to supporting all students
- Understanding and responding to a range of student needs
- Implementing Quality First Teaching and SEN strategies within the Assess, Plan, Do, Review framework
- Maintaining and contributing to Student SEN Profiles as effective working documents
- Differentiating support to meet individual needs while promoting student independence
- Engaging in CPD opportunities within the SEN department and wider academy
- Supporting the wider class group as appropriate
- Applying subject knowledge to support teaching and learning effectively
- Using behaviour management strategies consistently in line with academy policies
Qualifications & Experience
We would like to hear from you if you have:
- Qualifications to degree standard or equivalent
- An excellent standard of written and spoken English
- Previous experience of supporting learning of students
- Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers
- Some knowledge of working with young people with challenging behaviour
- Knowledge of some of the social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds
- A good level of computer literacy, including Microsoft packages
- Experience working with young people in an educational or training environment
- Experience of establishing and maintaining working relationships with a range of people
