Full job description

Cognatum Estates Limited manages high-quality residential estates for mature homeowners across the UK. We are looking for a reliable, approachable and responsible Relief Manager to join the team at Fullands Court in Taunton.

This is an interesting and varied role, providing support and cover for the Estate Managers and helping to ensure the smooth, safe and efficient running of the estate.

About the role

You will work as part of a small team of Relief Managers, providing cover for the Estate Managers on their days off and holidays.

The role involves approximately 2-4 shifts per month and extra during several weeks of the year. Each duty period covers 24 hours. During a duty period, you will normally undertake up to four hours of active duties on the estate, with the remainder of the period being an on-call responsibility which can be carried out from home.

During the on-call period, you must remain available and able to respond appropriately to calls or emergencies and attend the estate when required.

Full training will be provided, so previous experience in a similar role is not essential.

Key responsibilities

The role will include:

Providing support and assistance to residents in a professional, helpful and courteous manner.
Responding appropriately to emergencies and incidents affecting residents or the estate.
Carrying out routine inspections of communal areas and the estate and reporting any issues identified.
Identifying and reporting maintenance issues and, where authorised, arranging or coordinating appropriate contractors.
Following up outstanding maintenance matters and reporting significant issues to the Estate Manager.
Monitoring security and access arrangements and responding appropriately to security concerns.
Maintaining appropriate records and undertaking routine office and administrative duties.
Communicating effectively with residents, contractors and colleagues.
Following established health, safety, security and emergency procedures.
Working independently and using initiative when the Estate Manager is not present.
Undertaking other reasonable duties associated with the smooth and effective running of the estate.

What we're looking for

We are looking for someone who is:

Reliable and able to fulfil agreed duty periods and responsibilities.
Approachable, friendly and confident when dealing with residents.
Calm and capable of responding appropriately to unexpected situations and emergencies.
Well organised and able to manage tasks independently.
A good communicator with residents, contractors and colleagues.
Practical and able to identify problems and take appropriate action.
Comfortable undertaking basic administrative duties, including using email, telephones and basic computer systems.
Flexible and willing to provide support when required.

Essential requirements

You must live within approximately 10–15 minutes' travel time of Fullands Court.
You must have a reliable means of travelling to the estate at short notice, including outside normal daytime hours when occasionally required.
You must be able to undertake the required on-site duties and remain available during on-call periods.
You must be able to respond calmly and appropriately to emergencies and unexpected situations.
You must be able to work independently when required and follow established procedures.

Pay: £170.00-£510.00 per month
