As part of our continued growth, we are recruiting two experienced Senior Admissions & University Relations Officers to join our Birmingham office.
Job Overview
The Senior Admissions & University Relations Officer will play a key role in managing student admissions, maintaining application quality and developing effective working relationships with FBA’s university and education partners.
The successful candidate will oversee student applications from initial eligibility assessment through to enrolment. This includes reviewing documents, assessing entry requirements, coordinating interviews, dealing applications, monitoring offers and deadlines, resolving complex cases and maintaining accurate CRM records.
The role also involves regular communication with university admissions and recruitment teams, supporting FBA staff and sub-partners, delivering admissions training and helping management improve application quality and enrolment performance.
This is a full-time, permanent and office-based position at FBA’s Birmingham office. Two vacancies are available.
Duties and Responsibilities
Admissions management
- Manage student applications throughout the admissions journey, from initial assessment to final enrolment.
- Review prospective students’ educational backgrounds, qualifications, work experience and course preferences.
- Assess initial eligibility against the relevant university and course entry requirements.
- Provide accurate information about courses, campuses, study patterns, entry requirements and admissions processes.
- Review application forms and supporting documents before submission.
- Ensure applications are complete, accurate and submitted within the relevant deadlines.
- Conduct detailed quality checks and identify missing, inconsistent or unsuitable information.
- Monitor application progress, interviews, offers, conditions, enrolment requirements and outstanding actions.
- Coordinate interview bookings and ensure applicants receive appropriate preparation and guidance.
- Support applicants with completing offer conditions and enrolment requirements.
- Provide general guidance regarding the Student Finance application process using current and approved information.
- Follow up with students, staff, sub-partners and universities to prevent unnecessary delays.
- Identify applications at risk of rejection, withdrawal, no-show or missed deadlines and take appropriate action.
- Maintain a professional and supportive student experience throughout the admissions journey.
University and partner relations
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with university admissions, recruitment and partnership teams.
- Act as a key point of contact for admissions enquiries, application updates and case escalations.
- Attend university meetings, training sessions, webinars, open days and partner events.
- Participate, when required, in FBA’s corporate and promotional activities, including photography, videography, social-media content, advertising campaigns, staff introductions, event coverage and other approved marketing productions. As this is a public-facing position, the postholder must be confident and willing to appear on camera and represent FBA professionally.
- Obtain and communicate current information about courses, entry requirements, deadlines, admissions procedures and policy changes.
- Coordinate with university representatives to resolve application and enrolment issues.
- Support management in strengthening existing university relationships and developing new education partnerships.
- Prepare for and participate in university monitoring, performance-review and partnership meetings.
- Maintain professional records of university communications, decisions and agreed actions.
- Ensure that information received from university partners is communicated accurately and promptly to relevant FBA teams and sub-partners.
- Deliver training on course information, eligibility, documentation, application quality, interviews and admissions procedures.
CRM, compliance and reporting
- Maintain complete, accurate and up-to-date student and application records in FBA’s CRM.
- Record all important communications, application updates, deadlines and agreed actions.
- Ensure every assigned application has the correct status, responsible person and next follow-up date.
- Monitor admissions pipelines and identify delayed or inactive cases requiring attention.
RequirementsEssential requirements
- A minimum of two years’ relevant experience in higher education admissions, student recruitment, university student services or education consultancy.
- Strong working knowledge of UK university admissions processes.
- Experience managing student applications from initial assessment through to enrolment.
- Experience reviewing qualifications, supporting documents and course entry requirements.
- Ability to assess student eligibility and identify incomplete, unsuitable or high-risk applications.
- Experience communicating professionally with university admissions, recruitment or partnership teams.
- Strong understanding of application, interview, offer, compliance and enrolment stages.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Strong relationship-management and stakeholder-communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to application accuracy.
- Ability to manage a high-volume admissions pipeline and meet multiple deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and confidence handling complex or escalated cases.
- Experience using a CRM, student-record system or application-management platform.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, email and online communication platforms.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
- Availability to work full-time from FBA’s Birmingham office.
Desirable requirements
- Experience working directly within a UK university, higher education provider or established education consultancy.
- Existing professional relationships or experience working with UK university partners.
- Knowledge of Student Finance England and the general student funding application process.
- Experience supporting Home, mature, working-adult or non-traditional students.
- Experience working with both Home and International university applicants.
- Knowledge of international qualifications and English-language requirements.
- Experience delivering admissions training, workshops or partner briefings.
- Experience monitoring admissions performance and producing management reports.
- Previous supervisory, senior officer or team-support experience.
- A relevant degree or professional qualification.

Pay: £12.71-£15.00 per hour
