We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Butchery Assistant to join our team on a fixed-term basis, covering a period of maternity leave from August 2026. This is a hands-on role working alongside our experienced butchers across our butchery outlets . The ideal candidate will have a positive, team-oriented attitude and a willingness to learn. Previous experience in a butchery, food production, or similar hands-on food environment is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided. A good understanding of food hygiene and safety standards is required, with a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate being desirable. You must be able to work efficiently in a physically demanding environment, including early morning starts, and demonstrate strong communication skills alongside reliability and punctuality. A clean driving licence is also required, as occasional delivery duties may be part of the role.
The successful candidate will assist with the preparation, cutting, and portioning of meat products to meet customer and production requirements. The role involves operating and maintaining equipment such as slicers and mincers in line with health and safety procedures, as well as labelling, wrapping, and presenting products for display or dispatch. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the workspace, serving customers, and providing product knowledge and recommendations where required. Additionally, the role includes supporting stock rotation, assisting with order checks, and helping to minimise waste.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
