Apprentice Groundworker

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and committed individual to start their career in construction as an Apprentice Groundworker. This is an excellent opportunity to earn while you learn through a paid apprenticeship, with additional support provided by the Shared Apprenticeships team.
Groundworkers are the first trade on a construction or civil engineering site. They work closely with supervisors and engineers to interpret design specifications and prepare sites for structural building works. Throughout the construction phase, they work alongside a range of other trades, including bricklayers and plant operatives, through to the final completion of the project.
Typical duties include:
- Setting out and preparing sites for construction.
- Preparing sub-surfaces for structural works.
- Installing drainage systems.
- Concreting and laying foundations.
- Constructing roads, pathways and kerbs.
- Completing hard landscaping works.
- Working safely alongside other construction trades.
Groundworkers develop skills that are transferable across heavy construction, civil engineering, commercial building, house building and general construction projects.

The Employer
Shared Apprenticeships employs apprentices and places them with approved host contractors across their local area.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will receive ongoing support from a dedicated Apprentice Manager who will help you successfully complete your apprenticeship and progress into full-time employment within the construction industry or onto a higher-level apprenticeship.
Training
You will complete the Groundworker Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard, delivered by a local college or independent training provider.
The apprenticeship typically takes 18 months to complete.
