CNC / Manual Miller- Machinist (Heidenhain TNC 320)

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £16.94 per hour (£34,354.32/year) + Overtime
Hours: Mon–Thu (08:00–16:30), Fri (08:00–15:00) – 39 hours/week
Start Date: August 2026

Job Summary

Cardiff Engineering is looking for an experienced CNC/Manual Machinist to join our repair and servicing workshop in Cardiff. You will set, program, and operate a milling machine, handling one-offs and batch work for heavy industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Set and operate A bed manual milling machine.
Program directly from drawings using the Heidenhain TNC 320 screen. (most jobs already have programme)
Manually adjust the universal milling head for cutting angles.
Mount workpieces up to 1,000 kg using a 2-tonne gantry crane.
Self-inspect parts using standard precision measuring tools.

Requirements (Must-Have):

Essential: Proven experience using the Heidenhain TNC 320 control system.
Preferred: Direct experience with a miller 1500mm x 600.
Confident ability to read and interpret geometric engineering drawings.
Competence with manual machine adjustments and manual data input (MDI).

Benefits:

Overtime: Time-and-a-half (weekdays/Saturdays) and Double Time (Sundays).
Holidays: 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

Consistent day shifts with an early finish every Friday.
