Job-Specific Responsibilities
- To design, deliver and evaluate engaging, inclusive and highly personalised Computer Science and digital learning experiences that meet the diverse educational, social and emotional needs of pupils across the provision.
- To develop and deliver a high-quality Computer Science curriculum, supporting pupils to build knowledge and confidence in areas such as digital literacy, coding, computational thinking, online safety and the practical use of technology.
- To adapt learning appropriately to ensure all pupils, including those with additional learning needs, are able to access and engage positively with Computer Science and technology-based learning opportunities.
- To support pupils in developing transferable skills linked to education, employment and independent living, including problem-solving, communication, creativity and the safe use of digital technologies.
- To contribute to the ongoing development of the school’s digital provision, including resources, equipment and curriculum opportunities, ensuring learning remains relevant, engaging and accessible.
- To establish positive relationships with pupils and promote engagement, resilience and confidence through practical and supportive teaching approaches.
- To share best practice, resources and strategies with colleagues, supporting high-quality teaching and learning across the provision.
- To support the wider ethos and values of the school, contributing positively to a flexible and evolving provision that places pupils’ individual needs at the centre of practice.
Whole-School Contribution
- To work closely with the Teaching and Learning Lead to ensure that the quality of education, values and ethos established at the Cardiff site are consistently embedded and reflected within the outdoor provision.
- To contribute to the strategic development of the provision, ensuring alignment with whole-school priorities and continuous improvement in pupil outcomes.
Desirable Requirements:
- Teaching qualification or experience.
- Experience working with children or young people is essential.
- Capacity to teach Computer Science to GCSE level.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Ability to use school transport for trips and external activities.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Experience working with students with additional learning needs.
- A relevant degree or qualification in education or a related field.
- Experience working in an independent school or alternative education setting.
