Cardiff and Vale College is seeking an ambitious and inspirational leader to join the College as Head of Engineering (Including Business Development).
This is a strategic leadership role with responsibility for the overall management and performance of the Engineering provision, including curriculum planning and delivery, teaching and learning, quality improvement, learner outcomes, resource management and business development. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in shaping the future of one of the College's priority curriculum areas while supporting the development of new facilities and strengthening employer partnerships.
You will lead a diverse team to deliver outstanding outcomes for learners, drive growth and innovation across the curriculum and ensure the department remains responsive to local, regional and national skills priorities.
You will provide strategic and operational leadership across the Engineering department, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, learner-focused curriculum that meets the needs of students, employers and the wider community.
Working collaboratively with senior leaders, employers and industry partners, you will develop and grow curriculum provision, strengthen existing partnerships and identify new opportunities for commercial activity, income generation and business development.
You will drive excellence in teaching, learning and assessment, champion innovation and digital practices, and ensure continuous improvement in learner attendance, achievement, progression and overall experience.
You will also lead on departmental performance, quality assurance, staffing, budgets and resource management, ensuring the department achieves its strategic and operational objectives while maximising efficiency and sustainability.
You will be an experienced and successful leader with a strong background in Engineering or a related technical discipline, together with a proven ability to lead high-performing teams and deliver excellent outcomes.
You will possess significant experience of curriculum leadership, quality improvement, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement, with a track record of achieving targets, managing budgets and driving organisational performance.
You will be an excellent communicator with strong analytical and people management skills, capable of building productive relationships with employers, industry partners, learners and colleagues across the organisation.
You will hold an appropriate vocational or academic qualification, such as a degree, HNC/HND or equivalent professional experience, together with a recognised teaching qualification and evidence of continuing professional development.
