The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Cardiff University is a dynamic and successful multi-disciplinary centre devoted to education and research in the disciplines of geoscience and geography. We are seeking to appoint a fixed-term Lecturer in Sedimentology and Earth Systems.
You should share our passion for high quality interdisciplinary education and scholarship and be able to contribute to a range of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Earth and Environmental Sciences, including supervision of undergraduate and masters thesis students.
The successful candidate will be required to deliver education and scholarship contributions in the areas of sedimentology and Earth systems, both in Cardiff University and as part of our new degree programme in Cardiff University Kazakhstan, Astana. We encourage applicants who can teach and inspire learning that embraces sedimentology, and topics such as basin analysis and sediment-hosted mineral deposits. In addition, you would be expected to contribute to residential geology and geography field courses, local day field trips, seminars, team work and project work supervision.
The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences is lively and dynamic community that aims to promote sustainability through education, dissemination, and direct participation, enabling students and staff to make positive changes to our environmental impact, in particular supporting Cardiff University’s declaration of a Climate Emergency and aim to become carbon neutral (Scopes 1 and 2) by 2030. The position is full-time (35 hours per week), available immediately and is fixed-term for 12 months.
The appointments will be made, dependent on relevant qualification and experience within salary band £41,064 - £46,049 per annum, (Grade 6).
