Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for children in our nursery. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and experience working in a kitchen environment. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing and development of young children through healthy meal provision.

Duties

Prepare and cook meals suitable for children, ensuring nutritional value and variety
Follow approved recipes and meal plans, adapting as necessary for dietary restrictions or preferences
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in accordance with food safety regulations
Ensure all food is stored correctly, labelled, and rotated to prevent waste
Serve meals to children in a friendly and hygienic manner, promoting positive mealtime experiences
Adhere to health and safety guidelines at all times during food preparation and service
Support in cleaning kitchen equipment and utensils after use

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles within a childcare or restaurant setting
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to prepare balanced, nutritious meals suitable for young children
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with nursery staff and caregivers
Experience in meal planning and serving in a fast-paced environment is desirable
A caring attitude with a focus on creating a positive mealtime atmosphere for children

Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
