- Safeguarding Responsibilities.
You must:
- understand your legal requirement to ensure children, young people and/or vulnerable adults are protected from harm, and are provided with safe and effective care.
- understand the importance of using and following the correct processes and procedures to protect yourself and others against inappropriate behaviour.
- Health & Safety Responsibilities.
You must:
- maintain a safe learning environment to the highest quality, ensuring risks are minimised, and the likelihood of accidents and injuries are reduced.
- always conduct a risk assessment prior to, during, and after the lesson.
- fill out an accident report form if an accident or injury has occurred.
- follow Pool Safety Operating Procedures (PSOP), NOP & EAP.

- Data Protection Responsibilities.
You must:
- understand that when accessing swimmers' personal information, you will need to make sure you follow mandatory requirements to ensure confidentiality including; securing personal information and not disclosing personal information.
- Planning Lessons - Your Responsibilities.
When planning lessons, you must:
- cater for swimmers' specific needs, and provide suitable/relevant activities.
- provide regular feedback, assessing the swimmer throughout to ensure high quality standards are met.
- use fun activities and games.
- know your aims for the lesson to create a confident, competent and consistent environment.
- be able to adapt your lesson plan in various situations and circumstances that may arise i.e., if you have a new swimmer starting in your class.
- Management & Organisation Responsibilities.
You must:
- set and manage appropriate boundaries and operating rules when conducting your swimming lessons.
- understand the structure of the lessons and the procedures that are in place for when swimmers enter and exit their lessons.
- give plenty of notice (4-weeks) if you require time off for; illness/holidays/special occasions. We expect staff to commit to at least 90% of their shifts.
- Communication Responsibilities.
You must:
- be able to communicate with all individuals using a professional approach and at a personable level i.e., depending on their physical and mental age, physical and mental ability, experience and background.
- be able to use different methods to communicate with individuals i.e., verbally and visually.
- be able to communicate with other work colleagues.
- Evaluating Performance - Your Responsibilities.
You must:
- regularly carry out self evaluations and appreciate the importance of having regular external feedback to create a high standard of swimming teaching.
- evaluate the performance of your swimmers' to help aid their progression. Stated below is the process of how we evaluate at Coral Reef Swim School.
Additionally, Coral Reef Swim School uses a unique method of providing children with written feedback every two weeks in the form of 3 bullet points. Each swimmer has their own 'Swimmer Profile' on GoogleDocs. Only management, the teacher and the swimmer’s parent/carer/guardian can access this.
We politely request that your swimmer feedback is completed within 2-3 days after your swimming lessons have been completed.
- You will be paid to complete all of your individual swimmer feedback profiles.
