Duties and Responsibilities:
- To transfer and guide patients safely around the hospital, as required, in a caring, sympathetic and professional manner
- Move clinical equipment, medical supplies, goods and other items as required
- Responsible for the teams safe management of the collection and disposal of waste, both domestic and clinical in line with corporate and hospital policy WM01
- Support clinical teams by maintaining a clean, safe and organised environment
- Respond promptly to portering requests and prioritise tasks effectively
- Deliver excellent customer service to patients, visitors and colleagues
- Uphold safety, infection‑control and patient‑handling standards
- Report any maintenance issues to the Maintenance department
- Complete additional portering and facilities tasks to support smooth running of the hospital
Who we're looking for
- Excellent customer service and providing a friendly ear to patients during what can sometimes be a particularly unsettling time, our team of Porters provide a vital service in our Hospital.
- Experience of working in a similar role and delivering frontline customer service
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Excellent customer care skills
- Ability to work without supervision
- Caring and sympathetic
- Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends
- Due to the physical demands of the role, including moving equipment and assisting with patient transport, you will need to be able to perform these essential duties safely
Working Hours: Between, Monday - Sunday, shifts, 06:00 – 14:00, 14:00 – 10:00 and 10:00 – 06:00
