The role:
Based within Gartnavel Royal Hospital, the Wellbeing Service aims to offer all inpatients with an opportunity to engage in an enhanced range of interventions and social and recreational activities that will improve their experience and promote recovery and wellbeing and will be part of the person-centred plan, discussed with the MDT, patient and their families The Wellbeing Service will deliver patient centered, recovery focused, and trauma informed care.
This will be accessible to adults and older adults, based on current evidence and provided by a multidisciplinary, skilled and diverse mental health workforce. As the Nurse Team Leader, the post holder is responsible for the professional and operational management, leadership, supervision and development of the Wellbeing Service nursing staff within Gartnavel Royal Hospital.
The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of input from the multidisciplinary team to ensure an equitable and effective service delivery and will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with appropriate post registration experience and will demonstrate excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a team of nursing staff. Has lead responsibility for profession specific clinical governance activity and monitoring which includes care assurance; standards compliance; professional regulation; responding to complaints; staff governance; Clinical Supervision; Nurse Line Management Supervision; legislative frameworks; national and board policy/ guidelines implementation.
The post holder will be able to provide excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a team of nursing staff and will practice within a legal & ethical framework as defined by:
- Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) The Code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses and midwives,
- National mental health related legislation
- National and local policy, guidelines and protocols.
The post holder demonstrates a high level of expert clinical knowledge through evidence-based practice and ensures the practice is embedded within their area of responsibility. The post holder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development and implementation and evaluation of programmes of care The post holder has a leading role in the evaluation and development of the Wellbeing service including responsibilities under clinical effectiveness and clinical governance, requiring the post holder to be responsible for service and team standards, performance and audit projects within their own areas of responsibility.
The post holder utilises recreational skills to coordinate, develop and facilitate a flexible client centred programme of therapeutic activities for patients with mental health difficulties within inpatient settings. The post holder will collaborate with the Multi-Disciplinary Teams and key stakeholders. For example, at Gartnavel Royal Hospital this will include working closely with the Inpatient Volunteer Service Manager to promote the framework for the Wellbeing Service. The post holder is responsible to the In-patient Services Manager for guidance and management, work review, formal appraisal of performance and supervision. The focus of the Wellbeing service is to provide interventions and activities which promote the following:
- Interests and leisure Supporting people to take part in activities that bring fun and enjoyment, also supporting aspects of community engagement

Socialisation Maximizing opportunities to meet others/be with others, events, games, general activity with others

Mental Health wellbeing Promoting mental health wellbeing, through supporting a better understanding and management of living life with a mental health condition, promoting recovery, understanding what matters to the person

Physical Wellbeing Promoting a healthier lifestyle and physical wellbeing by encouraging and supporting movement/exercise/activity, nutrition, self-directed health care management of long-term conditions

Community living and Community Connections- Income maximization and Employment, Vocational, housing, debt management.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
This is a permanent, full-time post of 36 hours per week,
The shift pattern is Monday-Friday, 9-5 but with some flexibility for weekend or evening work dependant on planned activity.
