About The Scott & Brassey
Scott & Brassey is Lancaster Brewery's newest railway pub, located on Platform 4 at Carlisle Railway Station.
Built around great beer, warm hospitality and a sense of place, the venue showcases Lancaster Brewery beers alongside a constantly evolving range of guest craft beers and cask ales. Whether we're welcoming commuters, locals, tourists or railway enthusiasts, our aim is simple: provide excellent service in a unique and memorable setting.
We're looking for an Assistant Venue Manager to help lead the next chapter of our journey.
The Role
Working alongside the Venue Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the venue. This is a hands-on management position where you'll lead shifts, coach team members, maintain high standards and help ensure every guest receives a great experience.
As a relatively new venue, we're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and helping build a strong team culture.

What You'll Be Doing
Leading the Team
- Running shifts confidently and setting the standard for service
- Coaching and supporting team members
- Helping recruit, train and develop new starters
- Creating a positive and supportive working environment
Delivering Great Hospitality
- Ensuring every customer receives friendly, knowledgeable service
- Building relationships with regular guests
- Handling customer feedback professionally and positively
- Maintaining the welcoming atmosphere Scott & Brassey is becoming known for
Operations
- Supporting opening and closing procedures
- Maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Supporting stock management and ordering
- Ensuring compliance with company procedures and licensing requirements
Beer & Cellar Standards
- Supporting cellar management and stock rotation
- Maintaining product quality across cask, keg and packaged products
- Assisting with line cleaning and cellar organisation
Station Environment
- Working alongside station colleagues and stakeholders
- Supporting the safe and smooth operation of the venue within a busy railway station environment
- Representing Lancaster Brewery professionally at all times
What We're Looking For
- Hospitality experience in a supervisory or management role
- A genuine passion for customer service
- Someone who leads from the front and isn't afraid to get stuck in
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Calm and dependable under pressure
- Ability to work independently and make decisions when required
- Personal Licence holder, or willing to obtain one
Desirable Experience
- Cask ale and craft beer knowledge
- Cellar management experience
- Stock control and ordering
- EPOS systems
- Experience within a busy hospitality environment
