We’re looking for a Community Repair & Reuse Officer to help grow Rebuild’s community programme around repair, reuse and practical sustainability.
This is a hands-on, people-focused role where you’ll help coordinate workshops, repair cafés, school visits and community sessions that support people to learn practical skills, reduce waste and take positive environmental action.
If you enjoy working with people, organising activities, and making things happen in a community setting, this could be a great fit.
About Rebuild
The Rebuild Site CIC is a community reuse hub near Carlisle. We rescue surplus construction materials and make them available for reuse through our shop, workshops and community projects.
Alongside this, we run a Tool Library, deliver workshops and support local schools, community groups and volunteers to get involved in practical environmental action.
We are a small, friendly, values-led team who care about making sustainability practical, accessible and community-driven.
What you’ll be doing
- Coordinating repair cafés, workshops and community reuse activities
- Supporting volunteers to take part in sessions and share skills
- Working with schools and community groups to run visits and activities
- Helping promote events and share stories through social media and newsletters
- Collecting simple data and feedback to help us understand our impact
- Working with the team to grow and improve our community programme
What we’re looking for
You don’t need to tick every box, but we’re looking for someone who is:
- Confident working with people and building positive relationships
- Organised and able to coordinate activities and events
- Friendly, approachable and good at making people feel welcome
- Proactive and able to work independently
- Interested in sustainability, repair, reuse or community work
- Comfortable working flexibly, including some evenings and weekends
Experience in community work, volunteering, events, education or sustainability is helpful but not essential.
Working pattern
This is a part-time role (15 hours per week) worked flexibly around activities.
Most repair cafés and workshops take place at weekends, so some weekend working will be required. Time off in lieu will be given.
You’ll report to the CEO.
Why join us?
This is a chance to be part of a growing organisation working at the forefront of reuse and circular economy practice in the UK.
You’ll help people learn practical skills, reduce waste, and take part in meaningful community action that has a real environmental impact.
