About Rokshaw Laboratories
Rokshaw Laboratories is a pharmaceutical manufacturing business based in Sunderland. As the business transitions from an outsourced finance model to an in-house finance capability, we require the services of an experienced accounting professional to establish robust financial processes, reporting and financial controls.
The Engagement
We are seeking an experienced accounting professional operating through their own limited company to provide specialist accounting services.
This engagement is structured as a business-to-business professional services arrangement and is intended to operate outside IR35. The company requires defined accounting outputs and specialist expertise rather than the fulfilment of an employed role.
The contractor will determine the manner, methodology and sequence in which the services are delivered, provided the agreed deliverables and timescales are achieved.
Scope of Professional Services
The contractor shall provide professional accounting services including, but not limited to:
- Production and delivery of monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
- Preparation of profit and loss analysis and financial performance reporting.
- Completion of period-end reconciliations and balance sheet reviews.
- Review and oversight of accounts payable and receivable processes and reporting.
- Maintenance of the Sage 200 finance system and support for financial data integrity.
- Cost, margin and profitability analysis to support business decision-making.
- Liaison with external accountants in relation to statutory reporting requirements.
- Identification and recommendation of finance process improvements and internal controls.
- Support for the transition of finance activities from outsourced providers to the internal finance function.
Contractor Requirements
The successful contractor should demonstrate:
- Proven experience providing accounting services to SMEs, manufacturing organisations or regulated industries.
- Strong management accounting and financial reporting expertise.
- Experience of Sage 200 (preferred).
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or Qualified by Experience (QBE).
- Ability to deliver professional services independently with minimal client direction.
- Professional indemnity insurance (preferred).
Engagement Terms
- Engagement with an independent contractor operating through their own limited company.
- The contractor shall remain responsible for all taxation, National Insurance, VAT (where applicable), insurance and other statutory obligations arising from their business activities.
- The contractor is responsible for maintaining any professional qualifications and continuing professional development required to deliver the services.
- The contractor is free to provide services to other clients during the engagement.
- There is no obligation on Rokshaw Laboratories to offer further work beyond the agreed Statement of Work.
- There is no obligation on the contractor to accept any future work.
- A genuine right of substitution applies, subject only to any substitute possessing appropriate qualifications, experience, confidentiality obligations and site access approval where required.
- The contractor shall determine how the agreed services are delivered and may choose appropriate working methods, provided contractual deliverables are achieved.
- The contractor shall provide and maintain their own equipment wherever reasonably practicable. Where access to Rokshaw Laboratories' systems or secure equipment is necessary for information security or regulatory compliance, appropriate access will be provided solely for that purpose.
- The contractor shall be responsible for correcting, at their own cost where appropriate, any defective work that fails to meet the agreed specification.
- The contractor may engage employees or associates within their own business to assist in delivering the contracted services, subject to confidentiality, security and regulatory requirements.
- The contractor will not receive employee benefits including holiday pay, sick pay, pension contributions or other employment-related benefits.
- Nothing in this engagement shall create an employment, worker or agency relationship between the parties.
Practical Requirements
- Estimated workload equivalent to approximately three days per week, although the contractor is responsible for determining the time required to deliver the agreed services.
- Attendance at the Sunderland site will be required where reasonably necessary to access Sage 200, financial records, key stakeholders and operational information.
- Working hours are not prescribed by Rokshaw Laboratories, provided the agreed services and project milestones are delivered.
This engagement is intended to establish a professional business-to-business relationship focused on the delivery of agreed accounting services and project outcomes rather than the provision of labour under the supervision, direction or control of Rokshaw Laboratories.
