Sanctuary Supported Living is delighted to be recruiting for a Maintenance Caretaker at our Private Retirement service, New Court, Cheltenham.

The role of Maintenance Caretaker will include:
- Maintain a safe and tidy environment by carrying out general maintenance, including caretaking and basic repairs in communal areas and apartments.
- Provide a maintenance service tailored to residents’ needs, including quotes, progress updates, and advice.
- Ensure all work meets company policies, complies with relevant regulations and KPI standards.
- Identify and report maintenance issues, hazards, and faults, and support regular health and safety checks.
- Build positive relationships with residents, resolve service issues, and handle or escalate complaints as needed.
- Use and store materials and equipment safely, following health and safety regulations.
- Manage stock and order supplies to ensure materials are available and costs are controlled.
- Keep accurate records and follow administrative procedures to meet compliance with general legislations.
- Support, as appropriate, special programmes and projects aligned with the organisation’s goals.
Skills and experiences:
- Experience in a similar role including working knowledge of undertaking general caretaking and maintenance duties, identifying and/or carrying out repairs is essential
- Some experience of providing quotations for maintenance services
- Some experience in operating hand tools and light machinery
- Working knowledge of health and safety requirements such as (COSHH) guidelines and some knowledge of using safe manual handing techniques including practical experience of carrying out risk assessments
- Some experience in interpreting written instructions and maintaining simple written records with a good understanding of written and spoken English and a competent level of numeracy and literacy. A Literacy and numeracy equivalent to at least GCSE Grade C English and Maths or above is desirable
- Good communication skills, interpersonal, email and internet communications and customer care skills
- Level 2 Diploma in a relevant trade or knowledge and skill at an equivalent level and/or a Qualification or certification in Health and Safety e.g. Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), Health and Safety passport scheme is desirable
