Full job description

Overview

J W Grant is an established builders’ merchant, and we are looking for an experienced Yard Worker - Forklift Operator to join our branch.

This role is only suitable for candidates with previous industry experience who are confident in handling building materials and working in a fast-paced trade and retail environment.

The Role

Serving trade and retail customers in a busy builders’ merchant branch
Operating Forkifts
Picking orders and safely loading/unloading vehicles
Handling a wide range of building materials
Keeping the yard clean, organised, and secure
Following health & safety procedures at all times

Essential Requirements

Previous experience working in the industry is essential
Good knowledge of building materials
Strong customer service skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good understanding of health & safety in a yard environment
Forklift License

Other Pay & Benefits

£13.52 per hour (40 hours)
Overtime Paid at Enhanced Rate
Training and development opportunities

Working Hours

Full-time Monday to Friday 07:30 - 16:30 + alternate Saturdays from 08:00 until 12:00

Location

Kilmarnock, KA3 – must be able to reliably commute or relocate before starting
