We are delighted to open this exciting opportunity to join Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust as the Corporate Director of Nursing and Quality. Working to the Chief Nurse , the Corporate Director of Nursing & Quality is responsible for the highest possible standards of patient care and safety, championing an environment/culture that promotes and supports patients, staff and visitors.
As a senior nursing and quality leader within the Trust, the postholder provides strategic clinical leadership, direction and oversight for the responsibilities within their portfolio.
The portfolio will include Infection Prevention and Control, Physical Health, PSIRF, Customer Service as well as Inquests and coronial activity. In addition the postholder will be the senior clinical advisor for strategic and high profile mental health concerns, provide senior clinical expertise on matters pertaining to sexual safety and the built clinical environment. The role includes chairing and being a member of Groups and Committees and sub-committees of the Board.
The Corporate Director of Nursing will report to the Chief Nurse and have responsibilities to the Deputy Chief Nurse aligned to the Job Description.

- A senior nursing and quality leader accountable for the clinically facing functions and associated activity within the organisation and those that interface externally e.g. with system partners, regulators and agencies.
- Ensure all portfolio functions are underpinned by robust frameworks that provide assurance, flag and escalate risks, meet legal and regulatory requirements. Oversee clinical governance performance ensuring criteria is met and standards achieved/maintained and that activity withstands the highest levels of scrutiny and challenge.
- Senior Trust lead for promoting a culture where staff feel psychologically safe reporting events and concerns, that they are empowered to learn from mistakes and there is confidence in learning frameworks that will prevent potential future harm and improve
practice.
- Act as Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control, deputising for the DIPC as required and providing robust leadership of the IPC and vaccination function for GMMH. Hold oversight for the Trust response to any major outbreak or pandemic scenarios ensuring strategic leadership alongside EPRR
- Deputise for the Chief Nurse as delegated ensuring all concerns are addressed, objectives achieved and associated risks managed.
