Full job description

A commis chef is an entry-level junior chef in a professional kitchen. They work under the guidance of senior cooks like the chef de partie, assisting with basic food preparation, organizing ingredients, keeping workstations clean, and rotating through different kitchen sections to learn core culinary skills
Core Daily Tasks

- Prep work: Chopping vegetables, weighing and measuring ingredients, and marinating meats before service.
- Station support: Helping senior section chefs plate dishes and keep service running smoothly.
- Kitchen upkeep: Cleaning workstations, washing equipment, and managing trash or waste.
- Stock management: Unpacking deliveries, checking expiration dates, and rotating inventory.
  
  Role in the Kitchen
  - - The learner: Serving as the lowest rank in the traditional kitchen brigade, it is fundamentally a training position.
  - - The rotator: Often moving across different sections (such as the hot line, cold pantry, or pastry) every few months to build a broad skill set.
  - - The backbone: Providing the vital legwork and physical support that allows senior chefs to focus on cooking complex dishes
